Fring is about how to make mobile VoIP working on your Symbian!
Fring leverages the Internet connectivity traditionally used for mobile email retrieval and web browsing to provide mobile-VoIP communications so users can talk and instant message for free.
fring consumes ~ 5MB for 60 min of mobile-VoIP call; 0.05 KB per SMS (instant message)
See how it works here. Need to test it, but I believe Michael will comment on it much earlier than I find the time for playing with it :)
I am trying to register for one hour, their servers (btw hosted by bezeqint, where I was working a few years ago back in Israel) are overloaded.
But that's OK if you look what they have:

Moreover, their application suck, I will not get in the details, but it's better to wait for some updates, it crashes constantly because of improper network usage.
As the idea - well, expect either an acquisition by skype/msn/google, or it will be legally destroyed by them.
Technically - also expect problems, cell operator will be blocking traffic to their servers as soon as it gets as widely deployed on the phones as fring wants.
But anyway, I will give it a try as soon as the things will settle down on their serverfarm.
