I think the most people around me know about Marquis Who's Who- one of the World's best known database of the most accomplished individuals. But I did not know about its existence till recently :)
Now I also know about its existance: they sent me a paper-letter with invitation to update my bio in their database, to be published in the Who’s Who in the World special edition, in the case of successful verification and success/strong enough story.
My first reaction was that I believed it's just another spamming attack, but after some research performed, I am now convinced it's a serious thing...
They explain in the welcome letter, that their agents are constantly looking on the Web for the "extra-ordinary" people, contact them for bio veryfication, and if the personal bio/story of somebody is really strong and could be verified (through referrals, papers issued officially, other trusted sources)- the one is accepted.
I am impressed...I did not never think that my life so much unusual :=) to be published next to let's say Steve Job's success story, or next to the other very important people I saw included in the previous release of Who's Who...
However it's such a joy! and I want to ask from my readers if there is somebody experienced (succeed or not- is not important) with this Directory: could it be possible to ask the company why and where did they pick me up (since I have my Candidate-ID)? what facts from my life have attracted the professional extra-people hunters? Thank you for any comments!
P.S. any other comments could be useful, since there are some "strange" things wikipedia has about this project ("Carlson also writes that Marquis makes money selling addresses to direct mail marketers "<-- spam?!).

- The primary selection criteria for Marquis Who's Who Publications are:
- Position of leadership held at significant organization
- Educational attainments
- Noteworthy achievement in creative works (writings, music, television, movies, etc.)
- Significant publishing or public speaking experience
- Contributions to the community.
