It has already become a kind of hobby for me, monitoring the Job Offers from LinkedIn, published on LinkedIn Jobs.
There is something new and interesting almost every day. LD is growing in all directions, and one may want to make personal predictions for the future of LinkedIn, just by reading their Job Descriptions ;)
For me it's always a great pleasure to read comments for their new Engineering roles, I see LinkedIn has come great plans for their Platform standardization and integration with another Enterprise-level services and platforms, and the following responsibilities are also very interesting to check through
- Corporate Solutions Training Coordinator, Software Engineer - Universal Serving and Ads platform, Client Software Engineer, and also this one- Senior Product Manager, Rapid Development Environment.
And the new exciting Job Opening of today (today for me) was this one:
- Customer Support Professional-French Language Support.
Well, that seems to be the first step for LinkedIn towards the true Internationalization, right? BRAVI!
It's not the good way to think that the world is made only/mostly from IT people (LD's platform is still oriented on them!), and that everybody in the world can and WANT speak English while doing Social Networking (the most people inside LinkedIn are English- speaking, but there most people are still Linked-OUT 'coz of Language problem)!
So the concurents be afraid! LinkedIn will soon become global, but close-to-its-customers in every language, and they'll also probably have soon their local presense in the "old world", not USA only!
btw, the question for brainstorming is: why FRENCH is the first language? (if following the logic they always hire via LinkedIn-Jobs directory and not already have most other language positions filled :lol:)
To compete with Viadeo?! If so, the next language to support will be German for sure, to compit with Xing that's the European Kind in Business Networking today.
