Acer adopts Linux for laptops

After Dell, now there is also Acer to adopt Linux (its easyest form called Ubuntu ) for their mass models.

I am very happy! Acer delivers really good price/ quality combination for normal people. And now they'll deliver us also Linux.

Happy me, happy me! he world is changing, bye- bye Vista, Hasta-la-Vista :))))

Keywords: Dell, Linux, Ubuntu, Windows Vista, Acer

  1. 1. Acer is a bad name especially for linux, there were no reports how linux behaves on the model they sold, but according to its ~200 euro price it's an old bunch of hardware which was reverse engineered long time ago by linux community and should work. I doubt they will dare to install linux on their "ferrari" models. To do that they will have to change their business model and sacrifice the market.

    2. Acer did not offer "pre-installed" linux to anyone there, it was the retailer in Singapore who did it on "naked" PCs

    3. The original intention of Acer was to install a Chinese version of Fedora, not Ubuntu.

These three facts above are unrelated to my personal experience with Acer which is just another story.
