LinkedIn comes to Europe- looking for European Managing Director!
Everybody get scared: The King of Business Networking is now coming to EU !
I was very happy to have found tonight this announcement on the Job Board o LinkedIn Platform-
It was clear that the the first target in the EU for LinkedIn should be UK. But it's just the first step, we believe! Good Luck to LinkedIn, now in the EU and World-wide!
A few months ago, Reid Hoffman, founder of Linkedin, posted a question on LinkedIn Answers asking other users to suggest the best European location to expand a US social networking business ;).

Ciao Matteo, nice comment :)
I stand it was very clear for everybody that the location #1 for LD in EU will be UK :) Forum/Q&A is a brainstorming and it's always useful + it creates some collaborative spirit that's very important for any 2.0 company. But the strategy of international expansion for such famous start-up as LinkedIn should be something more serious than just the results of a brainstorming, right? ;)
However we hope to become the #2 in EU for LD, it's also something!!! But the strong point for LinkedIn's Italian base if one, could be not the fact that here people speak the same language as in the US :), but because here in Italy LinkedIn has the most famous "fan club" :) that is the unique in the world OFFICIAL Club. and the first one! And it's a strong and structured Organization! So it's not like to start from zero and to invest mega-money in brand local development and promo-actions. Here we already do this for LinkedIn...
So Reid Hoffman knows very well about Milan/Italy and Milan-IN- when he was asking the others on the Forum, Milan-IN was already discussing with Liz O'Donnell, Director International, the possibility of a business partnership for the two projects!
thank you for the GREAT comment, Matteo!

It's out of doubts, Mauro, about LinkedIn and Xing!
btw Xing is very cool project also because they're great in off-line Events organization. Seems to be more or less of what we're doing here in Milan for LinkedIn, it's just that we're THE CLUB, so we have a spirit inside! However I think Xing has all the chances ;)

Very true - the edge Xing has still relative to LinkedIn is the possibility with no hassle to organize meetngs and to manage the participants to these meetings (the members of a group can answer YES, NO and even maybe... so the organizer can prepare the best location to welcome them).
I wonder ... whz don't we use our platform to promote clubs not based in Milano ... whz don't we start to collect candidates and "members" for Bologna based LinkedIN fans, Zurich based, Paris based ... even if we start with 10-15 members for each location is already quite a lot and a good start to build up a more robust "institution" like MilanIN ...
just brainstorming ...

Marco,
It's OK for the first part of your comment, but it's not OK for the second one ;)
your "why don't we" today is not very correct, since we ARE doing this! believe me, such amount of people that have contacted us about Club-IN and the time some of us dedicate to this topic- is a very good proof that Club-IN will start soon.
btw, are you also interested to open a Club-IN in your City? :) now it's official- just let us know you want to do it: OPEN A CLUN-IN!

I will be at the Graphing Social Patterns conference in San Jose tomorrow. Reid Hoffman is the first speaker. Shall I get a chance to talk with him, I will bring up the Milan In club.

That would be great, Matteo, since you're not a part of our Org-Team/ Board etc (shareholder), but just a member of it! This has a perfect match to the Web 2.0 spirit of our Club!
plz contact us if you'll need some further details about the Club, although if I believe the most information is available on our Home Page.
thank you,
