See my previous article- Anybody wants to work for LinkedIn as Test?

Today I see they've still not found the resource needed- they're still looking! ;)

eBay gives Jajah Skype's shot

eBay is allowing a Skype competitor to embed voice icons on user Web sites. Jajah is launching a service that allows eBay users to talk directly to one another without additional hardware or software. The Jajah Buttons incur calls at Jajah's rates, which it bills free "in many cases … to other registered users or as low as 3 cents a minute to the most called places on Earth."

Bay cozied up to Jajah, its two-year-old Silicon Valley VoIP neighbor, just days after announcing it would take a $1.4 billion charge for Skype. The charge includes a $900 million write-off on the valuation of the Luxembourg-based VoIP, which eBay bought in 2005 for $2.6 billion. The charge also included a $530 million payout to Skype shareholders based on performance--less than one-third of wthe amount initially anticipated. Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom also was stood down as CEO of the company, but will stay on as chairman. eBay's chief strategy officer, Michael van Swaaij, will be in charge until a new CEO is found.

Skype's had a turbulent year, with a high-profile outage followed by a nasty worm attack. Still, with a registered user base of more than 200 million, a reorg isn't the end of the world. eBay's irrational ebullience in '05 is hardly Skype's fault. No one would know Mark Cuban's name had someone at Yahoo! not lost their mind seven years ago.

This is an article from FierceVoIP- the greatest ever source for the VoIP News!

The first feed-back 2.0 of Milan-IN- I like it!

Today I've seen it was working for the first time in the two years- the "feed-back 2.0" of Milan-IN! ;)

Milan-IN is a bit "different" Club- we're more OFF-LINE than On-Line, and for sure we're more Business Networking that 2.0- Networking! But at the same time we're Business Club 2.0 so we're obligated to follow some 2.0 rules, right? ;)

+ We're a strong organization with some good strategy, Org-Team, Goals, Statute, Vision, Mission, Achievements and Ambitions. So the most feed-back was previously presented to us (Marketing/ Events Team and co-founders) in the form of private talks... then we usually make A LOT of discussions via e-mail and on some restricted-access Forums (if Marketing Group, of co-founders' Group, of Operations Group).

And today it happens for the first time- plz do not smile it's true :) One of our Marketing Team leaders, Roberto Mastropasqua, asked on his Blog, what do the Club Members think about the last self-presentation Event of Milan-IN. And the reply did not make us to wait too long- the "new acquisition" of Milan-IN Renato Gelforte is always on-line and ready to 2.0 discussions  (2.0 in this context=Generated by Members+ Open to public).

Well, I wish to Milan-IN to save it's strong OFF-LINE orientation, the original goal of us, the why we were born 2.5 years ago! but at the same time, being probably the unique "2.0 person" in the co-founders lounge, I am REALLY happy that Milan-IN becomes also an on-line community.

Long Life to Milan-IN and to its Members! ;)

E ovviamente mastica perfettamente l’inglese e l’Information technology.

Attenzione!

Silvia Lenich, silvia.lenich(AT)MilanIN.com.

Arrivederci a presto!

Spock FAQ: Some new features of Spock platform- trust, messages, personal and tag-search widgets!

Since today some new and very nice features are available on Spock- it's first of all TRUST, the new way to connect with your trusted contacts on Spock. Then it's the possibility to send messages (communicate!) to another Spock users, and ... I found that Favorites have disappeared! Now the "Trusted" are there. However some kind of old favorites is still accessible in this way.

Jay comments this as a very significant step towards social communication for Spock nodes! And adds that the challenge with favorites was that people wanted to communicate with their favorites, and you could not do that in the previous design. We hope that people will like the feature a lot since it allows you to communicate and share contact information.

Spock Team is gonna send out a message about all this in the morning and will publish the info on their blog.

I am one of Spock fans and evangelists, so I am very happy with the way where it's going to! good luck to Spock ;)

UPDATE OF 18/10/2007:

Today it's already available a more structured new feature presentation from Spoke (found it in a Users Group). Enjoy!

1. Messaging - We implemented simple messaging on Spock. So, once you
find who you are looking for, if they are a valid Spock user, you can
send a message to them. The big difference here is that the message
will go directly to their email address and not to some "inbox" in
Spock.  All messages sent via Spock go directly to your email
account.  Eventually in the future, that message could go directly to
your preferred Social Network, or even to your cell phone as a text
message. This feature is being implemented since users said that once
they found the right person on Spock, they had no way of contacting
them or sending them a simple message.

2. Trust Network - Users have demanded that we overhaul the
"favorites" in Spock and make it more useful. Now, you can add people
to your trust network and share contact information with them.  So, if
I wanted my 1,500 contacts to always be able to reach me via email or
know my latest cell number or IM address, they can just look in
Spock.   I can decide who I share this information with in my
settings. Again, this was driven by user request as they said that
while we organize their public presense on Spock, why not allow them
to organize all of their fragmented communiction tools in Spock as
well.  So, regardless if you use GMAil, Meebo, Yahoo, Facebook, etc,
we will allow you to organize it all in Spock and share that with the
people you trust.  Again, this is in line with our goal of organizing
information around people and taking fragmented information and making
it organized.  We are not building out any of these communication
tools, we are just allowing you to organize and share them easily.  We
will even make it possible for people you trust to know if you are
online on any of your IM clients at any time!

If you have a lot of favorites you may be wondering what happened to
them - dont worry.  If you click in "Trusted" and look at the right
side, you will see a link called "people you migth want to add" - this
is your favorites list.. An easy way for you to see them and invite
them to Trust you on Spock.

New Nokia N810 and iPhone- who is the best?

I JUST LOVE NOKIA! THANK YOU GUYS! ;)

Although we've never tried the Nokia N810, its mobile concept provides a serious taste of the mobile future.

Nokia's new N810 makes iPhone look five years old

Nokia today introduced the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, signifying a new phase in portable internet communication. Sporting Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a full-fledged web browser, there's only one thing missing: WiMAX. However, a WiMAX version of the N810 will be coming next year. In the meantime, the N810's Wi-Fi connectivity will provide Internet access through hotspots as well as home and office networks, while the Bluetooth 2.0 support provides Internet access through cellular data networks when connected to phones with Dial-up networking (DUN) support.

The Nokia N810 comes with a range of must-have features such as Skype for calling, web camera with VGA resolution, e-mail and Instant messaging clients, GPS radio with Wayfinder's voice guided navigation for turn-by-turn directions and a microSD slot supporting cards up to 8GB.

In addition, the N810 comes with a 400MHz TI OMAP 2420 processor, 2GB of internal storage capacity, 128MB DDR RAM and 256MB Flash ROM. Furthermore, the N810 weighs 226 g and measures 72 by 128 by 14 mm.

The Nokia N810 is powered by Maemo Linux based OS2008, featuring a highly customizable user interface and contains various novelties such as a Mozilla based browser with Ajax and Adobe Flash 9, Bluetooth headset support as well as enhanced video and audio features. The Mozilla browser provides access to all web sites a standard web browser would provide access to, including sites like Facebook and Youtube.

A built-in media player supports 3GP, AVI, WMV, MP4, H263, H.264, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 and RV (RealVideo) video formats, as well as MP3, WMA, AAC, AMR, AWB, M4A, MP2, RA (RealAudio) and WAV audio formats. The media player provides direct access to shared media over Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Nokia claims a music playback time of 10 hours; continuous usage (display on, wireless LAN active) of up to 4 hours; always online time of up to 5 days; and standby time of up to 14 days.

The refreshed Video Gizmo, Skype and Rhapsody highlight some most popular downloads available while Boingo Wireless, Earthlink and The Cloud enable Wi-Fi connectivity across thousands of different locations globally.

Sporting a 65K colors 4.1" display with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels, the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet is expected to start shipping mid November with an estimated retail price of $480.

World Business Forum of Milan- Day 1 and after...

World Business Forum it's very exciting event! HSM has done some great job so the Event organization was perfect and everything seemed to be done in the best possible way! I attended the Event as Milan-IN representative, since Milan-IN and HSM are partners.

Some my quick comments about what happened there (around myself) in the first day of WWF (23/10/2007)-

Seeing Gianfranco very serious but somes times smiling, was a good sing that it is everything under control ;) The first VIP speaker I attended the speech of, was Michael Eisner from Disney- a fantastic story of their growth, under the title "Creativity and Management". btw here is an interview with Michael by 7th floor.

Then in a coffee break I met some good old friends as Paola de Vecchi (the speaker of Milan-IN of the last Monday), Giuseppe Pasciuti, Andrea Boaretto, prof. Andrea Sianesi, Roberto Mastropasqua, of course there were presented Luca Conti, Andrea Genovese and many others. Alessandro Morelli was there "on-service", supporting some VIP speakers as part of the team assigned by HSM.

The first cool surprise for me was to find among the other partners/ sponsors of the Event also 7th floor, to meet in person the people who I contacted before via e-mail only (Events/ Publishing/ Graphic- Giuglia D'Agostino and Stefania Capaccioni), and to find that the NEW ISSUE of 7th floor magazine is ready and my small (pre-)article about MVNO.it (and Milan-IN a bit) is there on the page #15! (I'll scan in later and put here).

Then I attended two "free" conferences on the first floor. One was light, entertaining and really amazing- where Emanuele Sacchi (founder/VP of virtHuman International) spoke about charisma, leadership and visual signs of communication of the humans. Fantastic! I invited Mr. Sacchi to Milan-IN and also to be our Guest Speaker once on Monday...

The next one was a Web 2.0- User - Generated Marketing conference organized by 7th floor of Andrea Genovese, with David Orban, Leandro Agro`, some 7th floor people as speakers and some other Web 2.0 professionals. Very cool presentation guys! Here is the full story of this workshop.

Also met Giovanni Pola from Connexia and was told that he knows about my social projects and Web 2.0- activity ;), and was looking to meet me in person... I am very happy of course, hope we can do some things together!

Then lunch very reach, but with lots of people looking to steal something from the tables, and so very crowded and noisy... however it was good enough.

Sponsors, Partners, Free Networking- all around the hall. I am afraid I'll have my Business Card of Milan-IN ended tomorrow, if it is gonna be the same productive as today ;) I passed a calligraphic test with Mont Blanc and was given their present-bag included a Living a Dream CD of the fantastic singer Katherine Jenkins

MIP was presented of course and lots of MIP guests crossed the territory (Gianluca Ferranti, Fabio Lisca). Then 7th floor promoting their new issue with my first article there. and many other sponsors...BMW is everywhere, Vodafone with a very nice toy gadget as fake BlackBerry- have fun with your fake Mobile 2.0 device ;)

After that, another speech upstairs of a VIP speaker, person that I would call "the man that KNOWS this world"- Colin Powell, about Leadership and the Big Leaders of this World. That was fantastic, I have no words, only emotions! The good words/strings will write Luca Conti some later, I believe... and something is already available on Pandemia about Kevin Roberts.

One another important and pleasant thing, guys- EVERYBODY know and want Milan-IN, EVERYWHERE ;) And just from the statistic (no my personal opinion): 99% of who know Milan-IN and want to contact us for some co-marketing projects, have respect to us first of all because we are LinkedIn Club, created by ourselves from zero! So we're known not just because we make people meet and drink some beer together (as in a recent article about Business Networking and Pizza )...

Well, that was not the end of the day. Then followed pizza-party called "Pandecena- Gold" ;), since it was a Mr. Pandemia's party by invitation-only. So they called it "Gold", unlike the previous "opened" so very crowded :) Pandecena /2.0 I participated some time ago ;) The photos are available on flickr- bloggers usually make lots of photos :). Here is the collection of Elena for example, and a nice picture of myself with Luca drinking some beer and speaking about World Business Forum, it's first day!

The usual attendees were Lele Dainesi, Elena Franco, Andrea Romoli, Marco- 2Spaghi, Paolo- FoundraisingNow!, GIoxx, and some other known bloggers, friends of Luca.

You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

Porta chi vuoi!

Se desideri farlo è sufficiente comunicarlo a mezzo email a Silvia Lenich, silvia.lenich(AT)MilanIN.com.

Arrivederci a presto!

I want to write about Milan-IN"! Happy me! ;)

Enjoy the reading ;)

Pagerank for milanin.com- PR=6 but MSN says we worth zero :)

I was checking recently the pagerank of milanin.com web site, just to be sure it has not decreased with the recent google's page rank story, and found that our PR is quite good, PR=6.

And just another thing- MSN is still not our good friend as Google and Yahoo ;)

It's for sure we'll need to take care also about MSN in the near future!

& Entertainment show di San Francisco.

Get your Italian products into the U.S. market with minimal cost and risk!

One my LinkedIn contact, Jack Katz, asked me if I could present this Business Opportunity in some way to Milan-IN Members.

Here is Jack-
* Co-founder and General Partner at Red Hill Partners International
http://www.linkedin.com/profile?viewProfile=&key=35798

his Business Opportunity sounds like:
*********************
It is a first of its kind program to get Italian products into the U.S. market with minimal cost and risk.

Red Hill Partners International, LLC is pleased to announce a first of its kind global program that now makes it easier for non-U.S. companies to reach a large on-line U.S. audience of retailers and consumers for their consumer products. The new program provides a complete merchandising solution for non-U.S. manufacturers interested in selling their products into major on-line U.S. retailers including Sears, Macys', Target, Home Shopping Network, Kmart, Bloomingdales, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and many more.

The One Source U.S. Market Entry Program provides manufacturers with unique consumer products in multiple categories such as computers, consumer electronics, home products, health and beauty, office products, sports and fitness, automotive, etc. access to an assortment of large on-line U.S. retailers without the risks of maintaining off-shore inventory and operations. The program will seamlessly connect your products with our U.S. partners and retailers in the e-commerce marketplace for category placement on their websites.

Red Hill Partners International will work with non-U.S. manufacturers on securing quality products that are unique in the marketplace and difficult to find and manage for a traditional U.S. retailer. By providing access for new product opportunities these companies will save time, expense, and resources while increasing their sales and profits. Products that are accepted in our retailers' catalog will be directly fulfilled and shipped by the manufacturer to the consumer in the U.S. trimming months off the long and complicated process of partnering with distributors, retailers or importers down to mere days.
