Elezioni 2.0

Why? just because of my site  administration duties I had to intervent into some dirty discussions between our candidates and their supporters.

So what is the  point? My opinion. I am a club member. I am not a democrat in a very the same way as I am not a religious fanatic. I don't support any of the candidates. I am neutral. And I beg you, that is not because I am scared or because I want to keep up with the winner. I just don't participate in this democracy and stay away from stinky politics. Thats it.

Now, back to neutral observations.

1. The "Elezioni 2.0" have to be cancelled. There is only one candidate and there is no choice.

2. The Pier Carlo Team is HIS TEAM, because he has insipred everyone and HE has put it all together.

3. Marco is NOT anti-milanin. In no way. But he can't be a president of a local club not being local by himself.

4. Andrey is not Sovietico.

5. Andrea can't participate in the club management because of simple ethics. Whatever was said about on-line/off-line differences, there is kinda interests conflict.

6. To candidate someone (Michele, no?) into presidents is great. But who is it? What did he ALREADY do for the club?

7, On the other hand, some are very  well known, but for some reasons they popup to candidate after an year or two of silence.

Well, I hope you get the point.

In general, I have a feeling that too many here are better at speaking than at doing.

P.S. almost forgot, www.liberamilanin.com, just for readers to remember that there is one

P.P.S. Just to mention, there is no Santa.

Milan IN: Da Astratto a Reale

Forum moderation buzz

Following the buzz on the candidates forum. A copy is there. Or better the copy is here of what is there. Well... it is here and there anyway.

1. The difference between a moderator and the site administrator:
Moderators control the users. They moderate the content published by them and prevent abuses. Administrators watch for moderators to act as they are requested and do a lot of other things to keep the forum up and running. As the consequence of the difference described an Administrator can unwillingly create content that will be moderated.

2. Where moderators and administrators come from?
Moderator duty is assigned by the club entity for which a forum was created. This forum is dedicated to elections and we have an executive committee that controls all the related activity.
Administrators in contrast are not voted here. There are historically two site administrators, me and Andrey Golub. It is not a privilege it is our day-by-day duty.

Anyone wishing to join the administration team - is always welcome. He will need first to demonstrate his technical skills and spend some time in the IT Team to prove his capacity.

3. Offer.
Since there is a lot of buzz about this section moderation I officially candidate for moderation. My neutrality and Internet dependence should do the trick.

Rendere nulle queste elezioni

Antonio nel suo topic di candidato ha fatto ottima proposta. Mi piace come ha spiegato la confusione.

Forum: Le critiche sulla moderazione

come era sicuramente previsto, sono arrivati i reclami.

Voglio chiarire cosa ho fatto, e perche.

Grazie

The next big thing to fear

From recently published report by  McAfee Avert Labs:

VoIP Attacks Speak Up

VoIP attacks should increase by 50 percent in 2008. More than twice the number of VoIP-related vulnerabilities were reported in 2007 versus the previous year—several high-profile “vishing” attacks, and a criminal phreaking (or fraud) conviction—so it’s clear that VoIP threats have arrived and there’s no sign of a slowdown. Although ABI Research estimates 1.2 billion VoIP users by 2012 (with $150 billion annual service revenues), the technology is still new to many and implementing defense strategies is lagging.

which brings us to the next biggest job in VoIP technologies, security and privacy.

speaking of security, here is a graph of VoIP Vulnerabilities from the same report:

As about privacy... trust me, the global providers just don't give a .... don't care about it. If I would want to spam with voice messages, it would take one day of work to develop a system with near 100% hit rate...

Will see ;)
